A SO RF Flange is a ring that has been placed over the pipe end, with the face of the flange extending from one end of the pipe by enough distance in such a manner that a weld bead could be applied on the inside diameter of the flange. In addition to the inner diameter, the OD or outer diameter of a slip on flange is also required to be welded on its backside. As compared to a weld neck flange, generally slip on flanges are more easily aligned. The connection with the pipe is done with 2 fillet welds, as well at the outside as also at the inside of the Raised Faced Slip-On Flanges. This allows for a fillet weld inside the Slip on flange equal to the thickness of the pipe wall without doing any damage to the flange face.
